The Portuguese Cut Gemstone
The “Portuguese Cut” refers to a particular type of faceting. It is a cut with two rows of rhomboidal facets and three rows of triangular facets above and below the girdle. The Portuguese cut therefore has an extra row of facets on the crown that enhances the brilliance of the gem. The Portuguese cut is one of the more popular fancy cuts in the market. You can find a wide variety of gems cut in this fancy style.
